Ana Serrano is on the Board of the Open Democracy Project which launched both this conference DemocracyXChange and last year, the campaign toolkit you can find at DemocracyKit.org. With over 20 years experience building award-winning digital products, securing millions of dollars of investment for innovation programs from both the public and private sectors, creating global strategic alliances with diverse networks of digital business and creative leaders, and starting new ventures from the ground up, Serrano is that hybrid mix of strategist and intrapreneur who can make digital transformation and innovation initiatives a reality and a success. Serrano currently serves as the Chief Digital officer of the Canadian Film Centre and Managing Director of IDEABOOST. Alongside this deep experience in digital media and entertainment, Serrano has been an active volunteer in community organizations serving marginalized groups (Centre for Mindfulness Studies) and youth populations looking at the arts and culture sector to make change (Kapisanan).
Serrano has received numerous awards from the digital media, film, and theatre industries in both Canada and the U.S., including a DigiAward for Visionary of the Year, a Best Canadian Feature Film Award from the International Reel Asian Film Festival for her own transmedia production Prison Dancer: the Musical, and a Jim Blackaby Ingenuity Award for Body/Mind/Change.
She is an adjunct professor at OCADu, an Executive Member of the International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences (IADAS) which presents the Webbys, and frequently speaks at digital media and film festivals around the world about the creation and business of digital entertainment.
